The Peace Prayer of St. Francis of Assisi

"Lord, make me an instrument of your peace.
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
Where there is injury, pardon;
Where there is doubt, faith;
Where there is despair, hope;
Where there is darkness, light;
Where there is sadness, joy;
O Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek
to be consoled as to console;
to be understood as to undestand;
to be loved as to love;
For it is in giving that we recieve;
It is in pardoning that we are pardoned;
And it is dying that we are born to eternal life. Amen"

The Peace Prayer of St. Francis first appeared around 1915AD (during WW1) It is not written by St. Francis although it embodies his lifes work. It was found written on the observe of a Holy Card of St. Francis which was found in a normal almanac. It bore no name, but on account of the picture of St. Francis, it has been called the Peace Prayer of St. Francis.
